Hundreds of products are recalled every year in the United States.
- In the latest Consumer product Safety Commission's Annual Report
to Congress (1997), it was estimated that through the use of various
products:
During This One Year Period Alone:
- Over 3700 people were killed. Of these tragic deaths over 700 were children under 5 years old!
- Over 11 Million people were injured. 1.6 Million were children under 5!
- It is estimated that 9,000 people per year die from
contaminated food in the United States. 81 million more
are sickened each year.
- Last year alone there were over 1,050 products recalled
in the United States for safety reason!
- Over 20 products have already been recalled so far this month! These are products that could be in your freezer - or products that your children could be playing with right now.

General Products:
- Eastman Kodak Has Recalled DC5000-Model Digital Cameras
September 9, 2002
Reason: Due to a manufacturing defect, consumers using these cameras can suffer an electrical shock.

- Huffy Sports Has Recalled Portable Basketball Hoops
September 9, 2002
Reason: The basketball hoops can have a sharp protruding bolt on the player's side of the pole.
Distribution: Nationwide.
- Valor Heating Has Recalled Wall Mount Gas Fireplaces
September 9, 2002
Reason: A design defect in the gas control assembly can allow main burner gas to prematurely enter the firebox during lighting.
Distribution: Nationwide.
- XL Machine Has Recalled Playskool Toy Chests Sold At
Target
September 4, 2002
Reason: Screws in the chests' lid support hinges can loosen over time.
Distribution: Nationwide.
- Team Beans Has Recalled "Bottle Cap Bear" Key Chains
September 4, 2002
Reason: Poses a choking hazard to young children.
Distribution: Nationwide.
- Lawn-Boy Has Recalled Walk-Behind Mowers
September 4, 2002
Reason: Lawn Boy has received five reports of broken mulch plates.
Distribution: Nationwide.

- International Multifoods Has Recalled Pillsbury Chocolate
Chip Muffin Mix
September 6, 2002
Reason: Because the lot may contain chocolate chips produced with milk that was not listed on the packages' ingredient label.
Distribution: IL, IA, ME, MA, MI, MN, NE, NY, ND, SD, VT and Wisconsin.

Reason: Because of undeclared sulfites in the product.
Distribution: New York City.
- Sliced Smoked Nova Salmon Pieces Have Been Recalled
September 5, 2002
Reason: Due to Listeria Contamination.
Distribution: Astoria, Queens, and New York.
- Pennsylvania Firm Has Recalled Sausage Products
September 5, 2002
Reason: May be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

- California Firm Has recalled Prosciutto Hams

Reason: May be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Reason: Because a fuel filter fitting can become disconnected.

- Honda Has Recalled the 2003 Acura CL, TL, MDX, ACCORD,

Reason: Because a timing belt tensioner pulley is misaligned.
